Dance & Movement Festival
I have worked at the Dance and Movement Festival since 2018, with experience in technical production, stage setup and preparation, stage lighting, and set design. Since 2022, I have been the technical manager of the space, overseeing the technical demands of the event, working on the planning, coordination, and execution of the work necessary for the performances in partnership with stage technicians, company technicians, and directors. Organized by Espaço Cultural Pés no Chão, the Dance and Movement Festival has an independent history that began in 1997 and, throughout its 27 editions, has built an important presence in the dance and performing arts scene on the North Coast of São Paulo. Over the years, the festival has had different formats of organization and support, consolidating, in recent years, its partnership with the Municipality of Ilhabela, through the Department of Culture, and the technical support of FUNDACI. Its history includes 356 performances and an audience of approximately 53,000 people. From its earliest editions, the festival has been characterized by its occupation of different spaces in the city. Initially held mainly in the streets, with structures built by artists, staff, and collaborators, the event has expanded its reach and currently occupies the headquarters of the Pés no Chão Cultural Space, the Waldemar Belisário Cultural Center in Vila, in addition to promoting interventions and performances in different public spaces in Ilhabela. This diversity of locations requires planning and adaptation of structures and technical resources to the conditions of each space and the needs of each production. I began my journey on the technical team as a lighting and set design assistant in 2018. Since 2022, I have also assumed technical responsibility for the space and the monitoring of the festival's demands, expanding my role to include planning the productions, technical stage supervision, and coordination between guest companies, technical teams, and production. As a technical stage supervisor, I work on analyzing and matching technical riders and lighting maps with the available infrastructure, planning the implementation of equipment, and organizing the technical conditions necessary for each performance. I oversee and coordinate the processes of stage setup, adaptation, and dismantling, stage lighting, set design, and sound systems, working together with the professionals involved to meet the needs of each production. My role encompasses everything from space preparation and technical rehearsals to stage walks, performances, and reorganizing the structure for subsequent shows. I also participate directly in the setup, tuning, and operation of stage lighting, according to the demands of each project, including making technical adjustments in dialogue with the companies and cultural space managers. During the program, I monitor the operation of the systems and stage conditions, developing solutions for the needs and adaptations that arise during rehearsals and performances. The work involves both the execution of technical procedures and the coordination of activities and integration between the different professionals and areas of setup. Throughout the festival, I have worked with prominent companies and artists on the national scene, such as the São Paulo Dance Company, the São Paulo City Ballet, Raça Dance Company, the Londrina Ballet, Cisne Negro Dance Company, the Diadema Dance Company, Jorge Garcia, Marina Abib, Cia Druw, Solas de Vento, and Gumboot Dance Brasil, among many other equally qualified groups. In addition to technical stage supervision, I work on the assembly, adaptation, and operation of stage lighting for performances in the program, including work with Cia Las Titis, Circo Navegador, Cia Kawa, and Sabatino Bros, as well as the creation and operation of lighting for the Dance and Aerial Showcases. I also collaborate on the creation of lighting design, assembly and operation of stage lighting, and set design for the original performances of the Espaço Cultural Pés no Chão presented at the festival.
